Wow 30,000 downloads, I'll say! Any info on TI-73, 80, or 81? I know Michael V was pioneering some 73 ASM stuff last fall.

I don't think the 80 or 81 can do asm. I believe they dont have link ports.

You have to get a hacked OS to run ASM on those.

how did TI get it on there?

my guess is that it would require serious hacking skills.

I have a question: what is the TI-73? it has a lower number than the 83, but it has Flash, and the 83 doesn't. Is it like a really crappy 83+ or what?

Looks like TI advertises them as a middle school grapher. I asked Micheal V about them and he says the general specs on it are very close to 83+, just way fewer users.

wierd. Okay, and what si the difference between 73, and 73-Explorer? is Explorer an intermediate stage between 73 and 83+? or are they just different versions of the OS?

According to MV and DataMath, they're pretty much the same, only Explorer has the red white blue & gold color theme. They're finally getting some ASM games for it too, thanks to the Mallard shell.

Essentially, yes. From a hardware standpoint, it's practically an 83+, albeit a crippled one.

It's crippled from a software standpoint as well (just try to see how long it takes you to type in "HELLO WORLD" and you'll see what I mean).

Ah. Yes, probably, though I can't say for sure that its use could be considered widespread. I also forgot to mention 89 family nostub programs in general, the stuff people did with TIGCC (programs by TICT et al.) became popular in some circles of people who were sick of dealing with the kernals which at the time would occasionally screw up certain math functions of the TI-OS. This led to things like the TICT-Explorer that have the generic PPG launchers for people who put a lot of PPG nostub programs on their calc.

On the TI-89 I'm partial to TICT Explorer. Not as many people use it as PreOS, but I like it much better than PreOS, Doors, or KerNo.

Various distro's on ticalc, recent one has about 11K dl's.
anyways...

TI-89(&Ti)
Status: Discontinued (Base 89), Production Active (TI-89Ti)
HWINFO:

Find Rom Version:
(from home screen) F1:[alpha+'a'/'=']; Will display Model (89 or 89ti), OS/AMS version, OS Date, HW Rev ([1,2 for 89],[3 for 89ti]), Calculator ID

(from PrgmIO [F5]) [Diamond+CLEAR]; Will display copyright info, company info for TI and Soft Warehouse, OS/AMS version and date.

Rom Versions:
TI-89: 1.00 (27 July 1998), 1.05, 2.03, 2.04, 2.05, 2.06, 2.07, 2,08, 2.09
TI-89ti: 3.00, 3.01, 3.10

Shells:
PreOS v1.0.4 - Support for both TI-89/ti up to titanium AMS v3.10 (most recent distro). Compile time crash protection support, TSR Shell launcher [Shift+On], execution of packed programs/executables, one key un/archive support. File management (copy, paste, move, delete, rename, etc.)

TICT Explorer v1.30TICT Explorer v1.30 - States only supports up to AMS 2.08 as of 2004, but works fine on ASM 2.09 so far for me. No mention of TI-89ti/HW3 support, and I can't test that ATM. No HW patch required. Run archived programs, un/archive within shell.

DoorsOS II v0.98 - TI-89Requires HW2 patch, no mention of HW3 support for TI-89ti (documentation from ~2000). Shell extends existing asm support and acts as a launcher/explorer for kernel and nostub apps. Complete kernel rewrite. Compile time crash protection support, emergency exit [STO+ON], includes common compression/graphics libs. Most likely supports running compressed executables (includes compression libs) but it doesn't mention.

KerNo v3.1 - Nostub launcher, no kernel support (wonder how anyone would know that Laughing ) Support for all 89 versions (may require HW2/3 patches)

PedroM v0.81 - Uses PreOS for launcher, replaces old TIOS, basically useless IMO Rolling Eyes compatible with TI-89 HW1/2 and TI89ti

Ah, thanks for giving us the low down on the 89 shells, KyleP. It looks like we've almost got everything. Would these would for V200 also?

Most of these apps are independent of HW for 89(&ti), 92(+), and V200, but here's a little checklist of the ones that will carry over to v200 from my previous post:

v200:
PedroM v0.81 (rewrites the whole OS, so as long as the HW is 68000 it's good.)
PreOS v1.0.4
and KerNo ONLY up to v2.1 (according to release notes)
