I should be shot.

Yes indeed. I should. For screwing around with a school's calculator.

So anyways, I took a school TI-83, and entered in the hex for in A, $D4... and didn't put C9. So it looked like this:

Code:
:DB
:End
:0000
:End

What was I thinking? Don't ask me... Anyways, so I executed it (this is where I should be shot) and it froze (duh). I calmly pulled a battery. Nothing. All of them; same. Held 'On' while doing this, held 'DEL', held both, nothing... *cries*. So now I owe the school $88 (and that's not hex)... unless one of you knows the answer...

I can't make sense of that sentence. Did you put in the hex for the instruction [font="Courier"]IN A,($D4)
, or that you put in the hex for the ASCII code for 'A' (which is actually $41). And why does the code box have [font="Courier"]DB

Cash or check?

Eh, bad joke. Maybe remove the tiny battery and add/remove the AAA's rapidly. If 83 has any decent brown-out detect, that should at least reset the processor. That or the graphite trick.

wow evil, I remember that kind of joke, but its odd because with me when I tried to run something similar it did ERR:SYNTAX because of the End command, I think its cuz you can only put hex code into on calc asm programs

You really shouldn't be able to kill a calculator just by doing some software thing. Tried leaving the batteries out overnight yet?

Yes, I left the batteries very much out last night, and did what Brazucs suggested... :(

@Sigma, I actually just typed in DB. When I went back to figure out what that command was in an attempt to figure out what I might have done, I accidently looked up the token for End, not Enter ':'... There goes me trying to be smart Razz...

I don't think your screwed just yet......Try this-

Remove the four AAA batteries AND the little backup battery and wait a while.....

Once you've done that put the AAA's back in; when you put the last AAA in be sure to hold down the 'del' key-
In theory this should force your calc to accept a new OS.

Try it a couple of times if it doesn't work the first time Smile

Well, it works now. Actually, it'd been working for about two days now, got it to work awhile ago. Still don't know how. And yes, I did try to make it accept a new OS. No joy.

Aaah! We need more info!

Were the batteries out of it for long time? I know this didn't fix itself.

Ok, Ok! I give in to the pressure Very Happy. I took the backup battery out too for about 2 days. It worked. Oh, and the contrast was like crazy low when I turned it on. Don't know if you all care though.
