I visited TI-Calc's rom dump website here:
http://www.ticalc.org/programming/emulators/romdump.html

I noticed, however, they don't have a program for the TI-83 plus to retrieve the ROM image. How have assembly programmers here downloaded the ROM image of their TI-83 plus?

<cough>Google</cough> actually search for TilEM on TiCalc.org. download rom8x, and the Windows version of TilEm (assuming you have Windows). If you have a *nix box then download the *nix version.

Knowing what kind of cable you have will be useful if you need future help. (Just a thought...)

Yeah, silverlinks are nice, but a PAIN to get working on *nix, or even windows to some extent.

Hey! No discriminating the TI-Basic social class! lol

You should know:
1. It's illegal to download ROMs (unless you have a calculator, or something like that)
2. There have been millions of topics about this... literally.
3. If you really have to find a ROM, JFGI.

I opened vti 2.5, and clicked ROM Wizard. Note that vti 2.5 cant actually use that ROM most of the time, because it's higher than 1.12. It'll work fine with any decent emulator though.

Yeah, sucks for us silverlinks though, there is nearly no way to get a rom image - if anyone can get me 1.18 or 2.24 (or whatever the latest is), let me know via PM

Uploading the image of your own calculator is not illegal, since you obviously need the calculator itself in front of you. Downloading someone else's is illegal.

How? Are thieves going around at night, breaking into people's houses, reaching under their pillows, and stealing ROMS?

How would you find your own ROM somewhere if you hadn't uploaded it first?

I bet he ment "a calc" in a general sense, not as in "one of your calcs".

Yeah, like:
I have a TI-83+
Someone else has a TI-83+
I get that ROM from that persons calc, because i cant rip my own ROM or because i need a 1.12 ROM.
Would that be legal? I have a TI-83+, the ROM is just not from the actual calc i own, just the same type.
