Does anyone know of any free C++ compilers because I bought a book that came with software to compile the programs but it doesn't work on my computer, because I think you need something more recent than windows 98SE.

Free C++ Compilers

I can't immediately track down any claims about pre-98SE compilers. Experimentation will probably do.

[EDIT]

Digital Mars works for Win32, Win16, DOS32 and DOS.

DJGPP works for Win9x, I use it myself sometimes (very, very rarely)
It is a pain to setup and configure properly though!
