Does anyone know of any drivers around to work with AMC97 codec sound controller. Also with THIS computer is it not possible to get a graphics card like THIS one?

No, the videocard requires an AGP slot which that computer does not have any on the motherboard.

So you would have to buy a new mother board to get an AGP slot for the graphics card?

Yes, and then you'll probably need new RAM, CPU, etc.

you could also buy a pci gfx card (if that comp has pci), but they suck and are more expensive than agp cards.

If you do not have an AGP slot, you can't use an AGP video card.

All I can really tell you is to know what hardware you have in your computer and keep a copy of all the drivers and programs on hand. Lets just say when you got your computer, the drivers all worked, so you should be sure to have at least an old driver that works.

I do not have a computer which I don't have drivers to support. In addition, I know exactly what hardware I have in each of my computers.

I have one last suggestion for you.

Why not try a newer version of windows? Serriously, try Windows 2000 or XP.

Chances are very good if your computer had a popular sound card and video card that the Microsoft Hardware Testing Driver Signing freaks added a Driver to Windows.

If this is the case, simply instlaling Windows 2000 or XP will solve all your driver needs.

I installed Windows 2000 on a Pentium 2 and XP on a Pentium 3. Lets just say neither need any drivers. Newer versions of Windows were able to automatically handle Plugging and Playing the appropriate drivers without my intervention.

Go ahead and ditch Windows 98 for a different OS. You may be shocked or stunned to find out it automatically detects and loads all the drivers for all of your hardware no questions asked. This may not happen, but you never know. Give it a try.

I wouldn't be so fast to ditch win98, not all hardware is compatible with win2k / winXP, I have 2 TV-tuners, 2 laser printers and a sound card incompatible with both win2k and winXP

did you google on the AMC97? AMC97 is a very popular module, often used in onboard sound cards. You should try the homepage of your motherboard manufacturer they usually have the nescessary driver

Would I be able to get a PCI graphics card since at least one slot is available on that computer?

As a whole, Windows 2000 and XP are compatible with a lot more systems out of the box than Win 98!.

2 TV Tuners? What type?

Please tell me what laser printer is compatible with win 98 but not windows 2000 or xp.

Also, if you can list your sound card, please do.

Yes, you can put a PCI graphics card in a PCI slot. Stay away from PCI-Express unless you have those slots.

How much of a difference can a pci graphics card make on a computer with onboard graphics? Does anyone know the best PCI graphics driver card out there now is and its price?

Very little, if any.

Additional RAM would probably help more.

Actually, i tried it, and it makes quite a difference. Onboard graphics usually suck big-time, and even my geforce 5200 128 MB PCI made it a lot faster.

I am planning on getting more ram, 256 megs. But would a PCI graphics card make a difference playing a game like flight simulator 2002 to enhance visual detail and the frame rate?

Leofox is talking about PCI Express, these cards would do a great difference, but they wouldn't work with your motherboard. The ordinary PCI graphic cards would not do much difference, high likely the onboard is better. I'm not sure if you can still buy ordinary PCI graphic cards.

Here are some of my nonworking things:
1. TV-tuner: 3dfx Voodoo TV 100/200
1. Laser printer: Canon LBP-460

the others will have to wait till tomorrow, they are too far away for me to find them tonight.
