Download Aiada32, it will detect what hardware you have and provide links to it's manufacturer's websites.

Usually there are some things you do before installing an OS.

One, you get the OS media and run any tests needed to ensure it is goign to work.

You gather all your pgram CDs, Downloaded Programs you are going to install... and stack them in rougly the same order.

Make backups of your documents, favorites, and any personal settings you want to keep... You should ensure you have everything you want.

Next, you check Device Manager... and get a list of all your hardware. You then visit the Manufacturers websites and download all the drivers you will need! You essentially make a disc with all the drvers.

You make sure you have all your passwords, usernames, ISP info...

Now, you install, load the drivers, install the programs, restore any needed backups...

Please tell me what Video Card you use. If it is an ATI or an Nvidia card, it will be very easy to find the drver.

NIC drivers are easy to find too. What kind of NIC do you have?

Lastly, What is your sound card type?

Right Click on MyComputer and select properties then navagate and find the Device Manager. You will probably see a bunch of items with ? marks.

Write them all down and post them. Then I will try to find the drivers for those devices and 98. You can then go back and put them on a CD or something.

My video card is:
Standard PCI Graphics Adapter (VGA)
the locations of drives I currently have on my computer are
C:/Windows/System/Vga.DRV
C:/Windows/System/vmm32.vxd(vdd.vxd)

My sound card
Roland MPU-401 Compatable
Locations of drives I currently have on computer are
C:/Windows/system/msmpu401.vxd
C:/Windows/system/mmdevldr.vxd
C:/Windows/system/msmpu401.drv

If you find drives for these can you put links right to the download on this forum?, because I have no idea what I'll be able to access at this library and my school library is closed now until the last day of school next Friday. Thanks in advance for your help.

Rolling Eyes . All you need to do is find out the maker of the chipset. It is most likely either nVidia or Ati.

Standard PCI Graphics Adapter. Pfffft.

Oh Geeze that is a Windows Fallacy.

All Video cards are VGA compliant, which is 16 colors 640 x 480. Windows did not detect what you had, so it appears to have loaded Standard VGA, which is quite ugly.

You will probably need a program like one mentioned above to detect the actual card. Another option, is to get a live bootable version of Linux such as Knoppix and boot off of it. It will pick up your Video card when it configures X-Windows. Just write down what it says you have and post it back here. Else, you may wish to find a packing slip or CD that came with the system. You must determin the Video card type.

If we find you any drivers, I will probably just upload them for you. Anyway, I am guessing your sound card works? I mean, it was detected correctly more than likely. You hear sound right?

You have some nice Dev stuff. Is Blender Media Blender?

I recomend GAIM for chat though. Is Ventrilo any good for VOIP?

I am also recomending that you try MySQL CC for mysql control.

I don't really know about Blender, it just says Blender 2.36.

I've tried GAIM, didn't like it one bit, it's too ICQ-ish for me.

Ventrilo is very nice for VOIP, it's like an IRC client but with voice communication.

I'll get MySQL CC sometime, it's a pain to manage things right now.

Where can I download Aiada32? By the way my sound doesn't work either. I looked at my device manager and there is a yellow exclamation mark by multimedia. Is there anyway you can get 256 colors and a higher screen resolution without a graphics card? I'm not saying I dont have one but I'm also not sure if I do have one either, because I've never opened my computer up before.

Go to this website to find out all the specs of my computer. I have never upgraded my computer although I definately should.

Well, what are you waiting for? Open it up and take a look inside.

Heck, you can even look on the back and determine whether or not your video is Internal or not.

Okay,

The computer comes with an Intel 810 chipset, which means if you do not have a video card it has the IntelĀ® 82810 Graphics Controller.

I found the correct driver for Win 9x in an Executable File.

Just download this and give it a try.

You can download it from Intel Here:

This one probably isn't going to work, but you can try it.

Some Research says this driver will work for some of the components HP uses.

This has been reported to work with AMC97 Audio Codec on 810 Chipset.

http://members.driverguide.com/driver/deta...?driverid=86995

Unfortunatly, I can't find your modem.

Some fo the above is just a guess, but hopefully the page you provided is close to the hardware you have. You should be able to try the drivers and in the worse case senario they should not run if you have different hardware.
