Hey, the problem is with a TI-83 plus silver edition.

Got a few things going on.. Sometimes it wont turn on, when it does, it usually says RAM cleared or shuts off immediately, and it shutsoff automatically when it is on.

I can usually get it to turn on for a little while by taking a battery out, by holding delete when i put it in, then taking it out, and putting it in w/o holding delete, which should resets the calculator. I also tried taking all 5 batteries out for 5 or so hours, but neither of these fixed it.

The problems seem to be a problem with the backup battery being low, but i checked it with a voltmeter, and it read around 3.2 volts, when its marked to run at 3. I also took one out of another calculator, which also read above 3 volts, which also did not work.

It hasn't gotten wet or spilled on, the batteries are all good, and im fresh out of ideas. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

~Matt

I don't remember much electronics stuff, but did you check the amps? I don't know which decreases when the battery is dying.

How about using the batteries from the other calculator, that does work?
EDIT: The other calculator doesn't work either? Hmm....

Is this a hardware or software problem?

See if reflashing the OS does anything.
