am I the only one out there who thinks that a USB thumb drive would be really cool? I know it would need a USB driver, but I don't know enough Asm to do anything on this. Would anyone to and develop one?

There are some USB drivers built in the OS, but maybe not the right ones. You could always try to plug in the key and press 'send' on the calc. It's worth a try.

Maybe worth a try on the 84+, which comes with a USB port.

either way you look at it, it will be hell to use it.

You can only page in 64k at a time.

Of course, you would really need an USB driver made specifically for the calc... That'd be a hell to even code.

Yes, i was talking about the 84+. The 83+ doesn't come with USB drivers.

yeah, I have a Ti-84+SE, but even if you sent it, how would you retrieve it? thats what the drivers would be needed for. Maybe include a driver with NimbusOS, that would be cool!

A better alternative, I believe, would be the 89 Titanium. It's much, much faster than the 84+

I don't quite see the logic of making upgrades to a model that's already much better than the rest.

Where would the thumb drive get its power from? The batteries?

Most likely, since I think USB devices run off of 5 volts, so maybe you will only need a resistor, a voltage regulator, or nothing at all.

I imagine it would suck the power from those batteries like none other...

We may release the source to NimbusOS soon.

It would get power from the calculator it would be plugged into. The calculator uses batteries.

You could make your own splitted USB cable that gets the power from an external 5V source, like a battery pack. That way, it doesn't drain the batteries like hell.

I think the higher storage isn't the best thing about lithium-ion, i like that it doesn't have memory effect. NiCa and NiMh batteries always die because of that effect.

anyway, as I said, If you were using LiIon triple-As it wouldn't drain the power as fast
