64x64 is a bit small in my opinion: how about at least 90x90. There is a lot of white space around poster's name.

I personally think 64*64 is fine (I use 50*50) but wouldn't see a problem in setting it at 100*100.

The only thing it's good for is so you won't have to read everyone's name at every post and 64*64 does that fine. And it adds some more graphics to the pages which looks better (less dull).

Okay, I increased the size of custom avatars by 15 pixels.
If one would increase it more, it would lead to that the small avatars look "pixelated" and that the white space of each post would increase.

When I set my avatar, the max was 64x64, so after I set it, I edited it manually in the control pannel to set mine to the correct proportions.

BTW, my avatar is not square, it is a rectangular pic.

I suspect that Netfirms doesn't allow remote linking of images. You'd better use the avatar at Cirrus...
