ok, when playing games such as morrowind and call of duty periodicly the game will just stop, and go back to the desktop, completely closing the game instantly. they do work well in safe mode though, my system is double all of the requirements, and a 128mb video card, also, when loading levels, i get file errors, but not in safe mode. Whats going on?

Used to happen to me on my dads comp when it was filled with spyware and stuff, never ever happened on any of my own systems, not even when the games I played required a more powerfull system.

I don't think you're supposed to call that a graphics card, it's an onboard chipset, mostly for laptops. Onboard chipsets use shared memory, which makes buying 2 ram sticks and putting them in dual channel mode a good performance boost. (Intel Extreme II is better though)

Anyway, have you both tried cleaning your system of spyware and updating all drivers? Either of the two always did the trick for me, a reformat did too but that's not really a solution. It's also worth it to check how much ram and space for the swap file you've got, though not having enough swap file space shouldn't crash the applciation anymore in windows xp.

i check for spyware often, but i also download a lot of stuff. I don't think spyware is the problem, i close all unknown not-system processes before i play Morrowind to increase performance.

And all your drivers are up to date? (and WHQL certified?)

If you want to increase Morrowind's performance even more, download Morrowind FPS Optimizer.

Then you could make it run fine in 1280*1024.

Gee, why would one want play with higher graphics detail? Because it looks better and makes the game more enjoyable perhaps?

That's not a solution, that's just resetting the scenario.

It's a bug that's been fixed in one of the patches, update Morrowind.

Don't do that anyway, it's not that far to walk and you'll save some money and train your skills too if you walk.
