What's the difference?
Now the best thing to download right now is "Service Pack 2" for Windows XP, even though it's like a 60 hour download.

No, the best thing to download right now are the latest graphics cards drivers (both NVidia and ATI updated recently) and DX9C, SP2 just adds some improved security you don't need if you have a firewall and don't use IE.

Have you tried the Windows Update website?

SP2 is released for IT professionals, manufacturers, and developers.

You too can snag a copy. It seems very good.

It is... it's much safer, faster, and cleaner. I love their firewall and the new pop-up blocking IE (even though I don't use IE).

Yes, you'd use a disassembler.

What I did is I simply made my own Windows XP SP2 bootable slipstreamed cd-rom, formatted everything, and installed it. Seems to be running a little cleaner. There are a few unnoticed updates, like before my cd-r/rw drive was running at DMA 33, now at ULTRA DMA 66, which really lets more though. Firewall dosen't do much, I just installed Norton Internet Security and told it to turn the microsoft one off, works well.

I like the firewall... As long as it doesn't let the "Messenger Service" things through, I'm happy. Then again, I disabled the service too, so any firewall could do that... even no firewall at all!

You can't stop something that isn't there.
