Probably not. But why do you want to do that? I mean, you can just download the latest version for free from education.ti.com.

Wouldn't it be easier to download the OS to your calc, then upload it as a ROM image?

Theoretically yes, but practically no, as I have the USB-cable and none of the ROM downloading programs support that cable. So it would be nice if there was a way to to update the ROM image.

VTI?

Maybe you could make the serial cable and use that, it's really simple.

Maybe it mentions how to do that somewhere in the documentation... Or even somewhere on the web. Hmm... Neutral

I'm not sure on this, but I believe you can update VTI ROMs using TiLP.

That's correct - you most certainly can.

Huh? A ROM image is the OS. You don't update it, you throw the old version out and replace it with the new version.

Yes, a ROM image is the OS, but the OS file OS116.8Xu is not a ROM image (at least not one that is compatable with VTi). To get a ROM image, first you have to transfer OS116.8Xu to the calculator, then take a ROM image of that calculator.

I tried using TiLP, but I can't make it transfer with VTi for some odd reason.

all i know is that the usb silverlink sucks for this very reason, and any roms over 1.12 are useless unless you use vti 3.0 or higher

Since 3.0 alpha also sucks, that means the 83+ is pretty much useless for VTI.

ok, thanks about the info on VTi not supporting roms greater than 1.12, saves me updating at all.

I just got the USB-cable working but it won't upload a rom file from my TI-83+SE. TiLP does not support the SE.

What errors are you getting, if any?

when trying to load a SE ROM TiLP transfers the program ROM83P to my calc. TiLP tells me to run it using some SHELL or by running Asm(prgmROM83P).
I tried the program in MirageOS and with the Asm( command, both with the same output.
The SEs screen freezes with "0KB of 512KB" on the screen. (I'm not sure about the "of" perhaps it says something else, I'm doing this out of memory, since I have uninstalled the driver again) And TiLP says there was some sort of communication error.

It might be the higher CPU speed of the SE making the link routines trip up...

Probably.

I'll have to see if I can borrow my friend's SE sometime and try it out.

Worst case scenario, if that's really the problem and you want to do this very badly, you could always underclock your calc.
