Don't type in ASM(. Press [2nd][0] to go into the Catalog menu. Then scroll down and select Asm(. Now hit program and select FAKERES2.

Edit: And delete the other topic, you accidentally posted twice.

You're not supposed to just type ASM( you have to go into the catalog, select asm( and press enter, then hit prgm and select FAKERES2.

Go into the catalog by pressing 2nd and then 0.

However, since you have a Ti83 and not a Ti83+ you have to replace asm( with Send(9 and you can't run Ti83+ assembly programs, so you're going to have to get a program that is specifically written for the Ti83.

Buy a gun, go to Texas, and order TI's education department to change it.

Either that to change the factory default setting, or 2nd and the up or down key to change the current setting back to something more useable.

The program should be rewritten for the more silver editions, because their default contrast is, I think, less dark.

I looked through the ASM file included with the program and found the contrast part. I spent five minutes deciding whether or not to change it. I decided not to play around with it incase i fcuked up teh program and i would be screwed for my exam on monday.

Anyway, i think i found the part that displays the top line saying "TI-83 Plus" i changed it to "TI-83 Plus Silver Edition" now how do i convert the .asm to the TI program file?

i have been fucking around trying to compile the thing, and it will not let me upload it to my calc. All i want to do is change the text on the cleared screen from TI-83 Plus, to TI-83 Plus Silver Edition. If anyone wants to help out and do it for me it would be greatly appreciated. Otherwise i will have to make up some story about why my Silver Edition does not say silver edition.

Teacher: Why does it not say "Silver Edition"?
Me: Oh, yes, well i dropped it a few months ago and i had to send my calculator back to TI. They had to reinstal the OS and they installed the regular TI-83 Plus OS instead of the silver edition.
Teacher:(suscpiciously) Hmmm.

Rolling Eyes

How about you study so that you don't need to have illegal programs on your calculator to pass your tests?

our teachers don't even know the difference between a 83 and a 83 plus, so i'm pretty sure they don't know the difference between normal 83 plus and Silver Edition. (except for the color of course)

I fail to see the problem with your teachers knowing you haven't got an SE. Are they going to laugh at you for not having the latest and the greatest or something?

i don't have an SE, but what's the problem with a program not saying Silver Edition, but just 83 plus, if your teachers don't know the difference anyway. Maybe his teachers are just as dumb as my teachers. Or something Wacko

Most of us could probably mod it for you in a few seconds. Just give us a link or email me or something.

Also im pretty sure your teacher is not going to realise that the message doesnt say 83+SE ...
