No, I don't think that's the case because the programsdon't run 2.5x faster.

If you're running them from MirageOS, I believe it's been programmed to set the processor speed to a normal 83/+ so that you can play said programs at a normal speed, if so desired.

What about BASIC programs? They don't run 2.5x faster.

Let me look for a good explanation about it, and then I'll either post it here or post a link.

of course BASIC progs run 2.5x faster...

that's the whole use of a 83+SE or 84+: your BASIC games are not that freakin slow anymore!

you overclocked your calc right?
then, there is not a big difference.

But if you play a basic game first on a (not-overclocked) black 83+ and the on a SE, you notice that the game runs good on the SE and way too slow on the black one.

I'm talking about my brother's TI84+SE, not my overclocked TI83+.

you compare your 84+ to your overclocked 83+, so you don't notice a difference, because the 83+ already is faster than it should be:

1) 83+ 6Mhz
2) 83+ overclocked to 12 Mhz
3) 84+ 15 Mhz

the difference between 1 and 3 is big, but between 2 and 3 it's not so big.

Who in their right minds would overclock to 12mhz when all (haven't seen any that don't anyway) the online Ti83 overclocking tutorials will result in an overclock to 24mhz?

I couldn't get it to go that fast. It wouldn't handle it. Sad.

I have no clue.

http://www.ftp83plus.net/frameA.htm

According to the table on this site, it should be about 15MHz.

well, it's the same speed as the 84+, so you won't notice a speed difference.
