Did I ever say Norton IS sucks? Didn't think so.

And what would you propose to turn it off after turning it off inside the program itself didn't work and neither did uninstalling it or cleaning my registry?

I would say that maybe it wasn't Norton IS that was the problem.

I had been gaming all morning, then I decided to get something to eat and install Norton IS, after which I went back to gaming to ifnd out I couldn't connect anymore. After 6 days I still coudln't play and had tried out messing with every other setting I knew of, including Norton IS's settings. Once I started turning that off I noticed my ports where still blocked and stuff and eventually I had to reformat the windows partition, and after reinstalling windows everything worked again (without having to change any settings).

Norman Virus scanner is worse, i screwed up all my games, so I ended up buying a new SimCity, cuz i thought it was the CD's fault, but it was all the fault the !@#$%^&* virus scanner!!

sorry to bring y'all back to the topic, but I tried that self test on my SE, there is nothing there. I have TIOS v1.16. I read that someone earlier had tried it on a SE and it worked, so I was wondering if it has been removed in v1.16

can any1 verify that?

I have a Ti 83 plus Black Edition with OS 1.16, and it's really there. Did you type the correct letter? It's [Mode], [alpha], [S].

In that case it must be that the SE version doesn't have this function. The only thing that "happens" is nothing. Let me explain if i click [MODE] [ALPHA] [Any other letter than S] it will go to the home screen and display that letter but [MODE] [ALPHA] [S] does nothing the screen remains in "mode" absolutely unaltered.

EDIT: My mistake, had forgotten I had memory protection on, doh.. silly me
