Hello, I'm pretty much a newbie to TI calculators. I've recently found a TI 57 programmable calculator I used to program (or "program"... Rolling Eyes) on some time ago. I was driven to start messing around with it and I even found quite a few programs / games for it. My problem is that I've forgotten what some of the instructions mean - in particular, Dsz, Exc and C.t. I need to know out of curiosity but also because I want to write an emulator for TI 57... unless there already is one?

Also, while I was Googling, I found a way to create something that is called "constant memory mode". What is that?

And the last but not least - I also found that supposedly, it's possible to produce letters A-F on it... but I couldn't why how. Neutral

Thanks folks!

I doubt - I seriously doubt - that this is anywhere close to the site to ask this question. In fact, I think most people have never heard of the TI-57 before. I think you'll find a TI-83 is easier to program.

Well I don't claim that it's easier, it's just that, you know, I wanna be able to operate it. I'm just asking out of curiosity - I got the new-toy syndrome... Smile And besides, I'm not planning to buy a new calculator any time soon.
Anyway, if this isn't the right place then could you give me a link to it?

I'm not sure if any of these help, but they are the only ones that seemed relevant.

Sorry but I don't think anyone here has every even used a 57. I would say you came to the wrong place, but there's not really anywhere else you could go. Good luck!

I, for one, have heard of a 57 but have never actually used one. I'm guessing it's not one of the newer models...

No, it's certainly not one of the newer models - apparently, it's from 1977. :?

Thanks for the links, Jed. I already found some of those but the new ones did help me.

I found out about the letters and this constant memory thing - if anyone's interested, here is the link ti the page that sums most of the info on TI 57 (it's in French, though).

Anyway, I found out what C.t. and INV C.t. do, but I'm still confused about Exc and Dsz.

P.S.: I suppose aren't any old calculator fora around...

No reason. Nothing can be done on there that can't be done on a graphing calculator. But, since a computer has many more capabilities than a calculator, why not use the computer?

Actually, it's just 1 line. And you can play Master Mind, Moon landing, Catch the Rabbit and hell knows what more on that archaic dinosuarish thing.

Anyway, if you were to choose between a latest 3D game and a 50-line calculator one, don't tell me you'd pick the 3D... Wink

Because it's FUN, Wiggin!
