Actually, I think it's legal if you own the calculator. I had to do the same thing though.

Moved to General Support. WHOOOPS, something went wrong, it now leaves 4 links (instead of just one) in the basic forum to this topic. Hope I can remove them. EDIT: yay.

I'm pretty sure it's illegal to download others, regardless of owning the calc. Maybe somebody could look it up in a manual or on TI'ssite?

its illigal to posses any except ones that came from your calc. so, if you got one off the internet *cough*, you shouldnt use it, and if you have a usb silverlink (wow, another coensident!), you cant obtain a legal rom at all right now. hopefully someone will write a program to do it soon.

Download TiLP (from here, I believe). Also, make sure you download the USB drivers (and GTK libraries) from the same directory. Then, install everything you downloaded. Once that is accomplished, run TiLP. After searching through the menus, you'll notice one for "ROM Dump" under "Misc." You'll need to set the communication options to the correct settings, but you can read the docs on how to do that.

Enjoy! :D

By the way, it's been around for a few years...

FYI, if you are going to be using the ROM with VTI, it cannot be above rom version 1.12. Anything higher is not supported for the 83+ on VTI 2.5 beta. However 3.o will work.

This is assuming it is an 83+, you didn't say so...

When you installed TiLP, there should've been an option at one of the screens asking if it should install the old MFC version. I don't believe it's checked by default, so try reinstalling and make sure that this gets selected. Once it's installed, run it. If there's not a shortcut in the start menu for it, then go into windows explorer and check the TiLP folder. Operation should be relatively similar to the GTK (the one installed by default).

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

I checked to see if the silverlink is in the control panel and installed properely, it is... idk what to do...

Do you have other USB devices connected to your computer? And is your user account (on the computer) restricted in any way?

None but the silver link. The system sees, it the tilp program doesn't. Are there any other rom bumpers for the silverlink?
