Hey EVERYONE. I have this SUPER URGENT question that I need ANSWERED RIGHT NOW.

How can I print something using Perl? I tried:

Code:
echo "alfhasefhweuighw4uighsuiehgsehg' :

But that didn't work.

I tried:

Code:
prent ""sadfayrhasdrhdsfh";

But that didn't work either.

You obviously should drop Perl and program in TI-BASIC, it is clearly a superior language.
Perl? TI-BASIC? Man, you're all a bunch of n00bs. If you want to be a REAL programmer, learn a REAL programming language like FORTRAN.

Yeesh, and I thought this was a forum of actual technologically inclined users.
Nononono!! In perl the only way to print something is like this:

Code:
system("sh -c \"awk 'BEGIN{print \\\"asdf\\\"}'\"");

Be sure to escape all your quotes properly!

And FORTRAN? Ha! REAL programmers use COBOL!

EDIT: Remember, all those old COBOL programmers saved us from a Y2K disaster!!

Nah, real programmers use punch cards! Very Happy
Hah, punch cards. If you want to be a real HARD CORE programmer, convert your programs into simple binary logic and describe it in Verilog. Then synthesize everything to an FPGA attached to a large array of LEDs Smile

Yeah, punch cards with a COBOL program on them!

That's how real programmers print stuff on screen.

By hotlinking other people's images and wasting their bandwidth?

@OP: If your havin' programming problems I feel bad for you son. I got 99 problems but Perl ain't one.
It's not like XKCD discourages hotlinking, it appears they encourage hotlinking.

I agree with that!

That's a good start, but it's better to concatenate a long series of chr() commands into a string variable first, then system() that.
