I'm a little surprised that a thread for this film hasn't appeared yet - this may mean that people haven't been to see it, or that they just didn't think it worth discussing. As a fan of 1980s action films I knew I had to see the film when I caught wind of the cast. It is pretty much exactly what you'd expect from action's leading men - one-hundred-odd minutes of wall-to-wall testosterone in the form of guns, explosions, blood and one-liners. A thinking man's film this is not but it's fun and entertaining from start to finish; a refreshing break from the watered-down over-CGIed stuff that passes for action films these days. It would have been nice for Schwarzenegger and Willis to have had more than a cameo role each (though the one scene they are in together with Stallone got a huge cheer and the biggest laugh of the film in the cinema I was in) and it's a shame that Van Damme and Seagal didn't want to be part of it but there's always the sequel to hope for.

Strongly recommended. It'll put hair on your chest.

You know, you're the third person in the past 24 hours to tell me that I should see this; I guess I might as well. Is it still in theaters (theatres? Razz), or is it on to consumer media?

It's only been out for a month, so I think you should still be able to see it on the big screen (where it should be seen!)

For completeness, here's the trailer:

Wow, that actually looks excellent from the trailer, and I'd be interesting to see how the chemistry between all those big-name actors is. Thanks for sharing, Ben. Smile

this move actually is actually pretty good...
action wise...

My friends and I went to see this movie sometime ago and we all found it to be quite interesting... though it is certainly one of those seen and forgotten movies...

simply put, it is a movie with a really really bad cliche plot of rescue the princess with the idea of 4 (or was it 5) people killing an entire army of over 200 people with nothing but brute force... (or guns...)

Through out the movie, it is quite repetitive with little or no actual advancement or character development... just continuous gun shooting and the magnification of gun sounds to the point of almost permanently damaging your hearing abilities...

so really... i give this film a 4/10
action: 7/10 (its kinda all the same... and guns get boring after a while)
plot: 2/10
impression: 2/10

Hmm, an interesting second opinion indeed, WhiteValkery. Sounds like "300" set in a modern-day environment from your description. Laughing

I guess they're flagging a bit; Arnie managed the job on his own in Commando after all. Wink

I'm not sure about that; I thought that Stallone, Statham and Lundgren's characters were well realised and their relationships interesting, and Rourke's monologue about his time in Bosnia was a brilliant piece of acting. I would admit that some of the other characters - such as Li's - were underdeveloped.

I would certainly not call this a good film, but as a guilty pleasure it's an enjoyable one at least. Smile

*You're. Wink He has a right, but he also has a left, and I don't think that's to what you're referring.

I'll probably still go see it; there's something to be said for a movie that's enjoyable and a nice way to turn off your brain even if it's not Gone With The Wind-caliber in terms of classicness.

oops!
i can;t believe i made such a stupid mistake...
thanks for correcting 0x5

but yeah... such movies has its purposes... though i would say that the overwhelming amount of good actors were not used to their fullest at all... rather feels like a waste to me...
