i was busy making supaplex, so i thougth i share my project here

the folowing screenie shows the AI of the enemies, you cant die, yet

the screenie here shows a random level (warning, 8 mb gif Rolling Eyes )
edit: cant seem to get the screenie to work..... >.>

i *hope* to complete this in summer, im already working on this for [s]almost[/s] 2 months

That looks really sweet. Keep up the good work. :D

How exactly does the AI work? Like when the scissor thing hits a wall, how does it know which direction to take? Or is their some sort of preference, like left is chosen before right, etc..

well, they use some sort of the "left wall trick"

-if there is noting left of him, turn left
-if there is noting in front of him, go straight
-if there is noting left of him, turn left
-otherwise, turn clockwise

pretty easy to understand, harder to code

especially since you need to detect the other scissors... Neutral

I never could get the hang of left-handed scissors. Razz But they seem to work for this game. I gotta say this project look pretty exciting so far. This is the kind of thing that could get TIing back on the map.

i decided to host a demo, sooo...

have fun, it takes a whole 5 minutes to complete (at least 0x5)

(it is bug-free..)

edit: zip'd, pick your favorite
edit: removed the .rar and removed the partialy-completed explosion code in the .zip.....

suprised nobody downloaded the demo yet, had at least an hour fun whit one level Rolling Eyes

(because it is way too hard, even if you cant die Neutral )

the engine is nearing completion, just a few more tasks on the "todo tist"

i looked at the compression aswell, the problem is that it requires rather extreme compression to reduce 150k to 20k...

depends, i still have ~105 levels i need to copy, each one takes about an hour Neutral

i think the engine is finished within a month (a exams Rolling Eyes )
but i still need to create compression algorithm, this is giving me headaches...
