Hey! I'll have to use that one in the game manual! :D
This was recorded in the 83+ build...
So far, it runs exactly as fast and smooth as the 82 version that's been the subject of mostly all the screenshots so far. To make the versions distinguishable, Edgar's portrait was slightly modded to look a little more like a cutting-edge LCD/USB drive. He's even grinning in both versions. Maybe because the 83+ builds support basic combat now. Text, random enemies, and advanced attacks will be ported soon... |

That actually looks very good. Plain and simple, but it stands out. |

Advanced attacks and (basic) random enemies ported over. All that's left is text support and the 83+ version will be caught up with the 82 builds.
Edgar vs. The Spy, Squidge, Leadfoot, and an oil barrel...
The spy, by the way is an oldschool enemy from RW1. Keep your eyes peeled for these speedsters in the final level.

man digi, that really looks great. I love the speed, and the stuff flying all over. This looks like a really great addition to the 83+s |

The speed is insane!
It's amazing how you can do this much on a calculator.

To load text and graphics from other pages I've been using bcall(_FlashToRam) to copy this stuff to saferam. Is there a bcall for just loading a byte or two?

I believe that you should look at the wikiti.brandonw.net/index.php?title=83Plus:bcalls:5017 page. |

If you want quick access to a couple of bytes, you can always swap in pages yourself. Though this would require copying a routine to RAM, it would certainly be faster than the bcall, especially considering that the bcall copies code to RAM as well.
Edit: Graphmastur, that link is broken. http://wikiti.brandonw.net/index.php?title...lus:BCALLs:5017 I'm pretty sure Digitan knows how to use that bcall though, since he stated he has been using it.

I have all graphics and text data (and associated routines) on page two. Any "call largesprite" will call the page swap handler in RAM to swap in page two, then execute largesprite and then jump back to the handler to swap back etc., you got it. It's very easy. |

I found a quick workaround. I stuck to keeping the text in the same page as the routine that calls it (at least for this current routine I'm on). Then I have saferam routine RWCall() that's permanently in the text memory for the duration of the prog. It's almost working, but still a little goofed for some reason. [edit] Text is working now.

Ported text and the shop functions are working now. The shop was especially troublesome due to the fact that it uses information from several flash pages. This marks a major milestone, because with this out of the way, the 83+ version is basically caught up with the 82 version!
It works just like the 82 version. As usual, don't forget to pick up those items on your way out!
Next Task: Porting (Completion) of the Savegame creator & loader

Still too early to tell. All the really experimental stuff is out of the way though and the coding part of it is almost through. After that, it's story and cinematics. |

Requires 4 Flash Pages (64kiB total) + 2.6kB RAM free + 512 bytes per saved game. The RAM requirements may vary by the end, but I can guarantee the Flash requirement will not go up.
