although actually, we did, and several people showed him where the date on the reply was too, so he could check things like that in the future. And I dont think there is anything wrong with reviving old topics, as I have done it myself, on multiple occasions. I just think that checking the post date on the previous comment before posting can save hassle, especially in the world of digital devices, where things happen on a much faster time scale then in most other places  [post="58950"]<{POST_SNAPBACK}>[/post]

I distinctly remember those posts not being worded very friendly either, a mistake which need not be made again.

I want apologize to any new members if there were harsh words spooken. Before these halloween puns get me booed offstage, I just want to clarify, so I'm not being...cryptic.

* Replying to '04 material -- not bad
* Doing it like it happened yesterday -- okay, that's a little out there......even for me

This is Digitan back with another postbusting Thriller. Unless you mist the past few weeks, you probably Saw an increase in necroposting around the forums. This is usually the norm around Halloween, so we try to mask the problem. This season, we're sheding some Twilight on the matter before it becomes a real noose-ence. :P

Dawn of the Unthread
Before posting, know that Wicca-pedia defines necroposting as "The act of posting something irrelevant on a really old topic." In other words, bumps with relevenat substance are not necroposts. UnitedTI's policy on this is not exactly written in blood because "relevance" is subjective and obviously depends on your timing as well. So since we're against ghoul and unusual punishment, we ask that you refer to our spam policy and axe us if you're unsure. These are the easy ways to avoid bat ettiquite.

"Am I a post-horror?"
Sometimes waiting for a moderator reply takes a lot of guts. If waiting for the staff gives you goosebumps (or even weregoosebumps), your post is probably acceptable if you can honestly answer "yes" to one of these scary queries:

- Am I posting in the most-recent thread on the issue? (Use Forum Search or Google site:unitedti.org)
- Am I posting a progress update?
- Am I questioning someone who will probably answer back?
- Am I posting about a recurring event? (Season threads, anniversaries, Program Of The Year topics, etc)
- Am I posting a community reminder? (example: *this* post)
- Am I making important Corrections (Is merly Editing not enough?)

In closing, let me say this isn't a witch hunt. But it's also not the Necronomicon. Maybe the Cryptonomicon. Anyway, the moderators and script-keepers exorsize the right to sleigh down the law as usual. So if any of this doesn't make séance, feel free to ask us for a clarificat...er...scarification.

Heh heh. With this being unofficial necropost season, I figured it was a ghoul time to dust to off the cobwebs. The overall message is, we allow bumps: just make sure it's 100% on-topic, relevant, and necessary.

And what about the candy or trick in forums? (I hope I wrote right)
