Continuing our efforts to catch up on PotM, we bring you May 2026. Plenty of projects saw progress this month, so here they are without further ado:
- A Calculator Flamethrower.: TheLastMillennial returned to their flamethrower project with some fun sticker decals, along with an update on the clear coat. Check out the thread if you missed this project last year!
- BasicOS: Re-defined: A new Shell for the 84+CE (and some history): naga_s posted an update on their shiny new shell for the CE, announcing that it is almost complete! If you’re interested, the topic includes a link to the Google Drive folder with a beta snapshot to try for yourself as well.
- Brand new NES Emulator for the Nspire!: Following up on the announcement from April, MihkeyMouse09 posted about an update to their NES emulator for the TI-Nspire, featuring saving and loading states. The latest build is available in the GitHub releases linked from the thread, so check it out if you have an Nspire!
- Building The Aperture Science Computer Case in 2026: Another project update from TheLastMillennial, this time featuring a Portal-themed animated screensaver to go with their Portal-themed PC case (the winner of April’s PotM!)
- Calculator Street Racing II Evo X (TI-84 Evo): At the end of April, Oxiti8 began porting Calculator Street Racing II to the new TI-84 Evo, taking advantage of the increased graph screen area as well as adding fancy new features. Visit the thread to see more screenshots and a link to an alpha version on GitHub. Fun fact: this is officially the first TI-84 Evo project to be featured in PotM!
- CE C tooling in your browser: With v15 of the CE C toolchain, Tari updated us on his project aiming to bring said toolchain to the browser, posting some filesystem performance tests. If that intrigues you, check out the thread to see his results!
- Clash Royale Quant Meta Predictions: linkjt9 posted about a data analysis project involving determining/predicting how good a deck is/will be in the popular game Clash Royale. See the thread for a much more extensive writeup!
- CosmoCE: A Cosmodread-based roguelike for the TI-84CE: After a nearly 2 year pause, DaniNyaaa announced the resumption of their roguelike for the CE, putting some work into sprites and graphics.
- lwIP | TCP/IP Networking for the TI-84+ CE: ACagliano posted a couple of progress updates for this technically impressive project bringing networking to the CE series. There is also a whitepaper linked, so check that out for a technical deep-dive into the project.
- Myriadas: StephenM continued to work on their space-sim game for the CE. See the thread for a link to the GitHub repository, where the alpha can be found. Make sure to post your thoughts if you try it!
- Tari's opportunistic Z80 computer: Tari also posted about his Z80 computer project, this month deciding to pivot to use Rust rather than C for the firmware. There is also a short demo video in the thread showcasing the computer in action.
- Texas Oil Simulator (TXOIL) for the 83+/84+: TaterTomorrow released a new text-based TI-Basic game where you play as an oil company. If you’ve got a monochrome calc, make sure to download this game from the Cemetech archives and give it a try!
- tivars_lib_py Development Thread: This month, kg583 released v1.0.0 and v1.1.0 of tivars_lib_py, a Python library to aid in dealing with TI calculator files. While it’s not quite complete (thanks to the new Evo file format), this tool is invaluable for those who want to use Python scripting to create, modify, and view files of the various formats used by the 82/83/84 series.
- WebTILP: a web version of TILP - now available in v1 (beta): WebTILP got a major update, adding support for the TI-84 Evo[-T], the latest model in TI’s graphing calculator lineup. There are some other updates listed as well - give it a try if you haven’t yet!
- Windows 95 on the Nspire CX II: MihkeyMouse09 brought us another Nspire project, this time running the classic OS Windows 95 via an i386 emulator! There was no public release as of May, but there is a sped-up video showcasing the calc booting to the Windows desktop.
Only TXOIL by TaterTomorrow was completed and released this month, so it wins PotM by default. Check in soon for June’s Projects of the Month!
