Has there ever been a "Killer App" for the Ti family ?

I don't know if this app is flashed in or just keystroked...
What is a "killer app"? It sounds like they're just BASIC programs like what you can find millions of on ticalc.

I too am rather confused at the terminology. If you mean a complete suite of programs, there are plenty of SAT suites, algebra suites, precalculus suites, etc on ticalc.org, as chickendude said.
A Killer App is an application that defines a product. With the AppleII it was VisiCalc and eventually Photoshop. With the ZX Spectrum it was Manic Miner (sadly). Most Surveyers and Construction Engineers use HP Calculators because of the availablilty of a serious applications hence, "Killer App." TI calculators have the unfortunate reputation of playing host to games rather than fiulfilling a serious niche in the market place.
I don't think that's really too unfortunate. To be honest, i don't much care for the market place one way or the other as long as someone can enjoy the programs i've made Smile Besides, if i had never seen a kid playing DrugWars on the bus in 7th grade, i probably never would've started programming in the first place. I can't even remember the last time i used my calculators to actually calculate something.

As for the "killer app" for the TI, i'd go with Phoenix. It's available for pretty much every single TI calculator and ON pretty much every single TI calculator Razz
If there's any unfortunate side to the lack of what ti83head is calling a killer app, I think that it's after college, practically no one touches their TI-83 Plus/TI-84 Plus any more. HPs are used pretty widely by engineers in the field, and I see no reason why TI calculators shouldn't be as well. Nevertheless, TI hasn't expended much effort trying to pursue professionals and engineers, and there seems to be little to convince post-college users to continue to use the calculators.
