I don't know what it is about these calculators, but they're what made me become a computer scientist! I started playing with one in high school. My first programming experience came from TI-Basic for my TI-84+SE . I then ventured on to assembly, but failed miserably.

Now, I'm about to graduate with a BS in Computer Science! I love everything about it.

I haven't done much with calculators in forever it seems. I recently wrote a compiler in C for one of my classes that compiled from Java to ASM that ran on a virtual machine written in Perl.

I haven't done the research, but before I do, I'd like to see what you all think.

Would it be a good idea to create a compiler for the TI-83/84 series that compiles from C to the native assembly for those respective devices?

compiling C for the 83/4 models has already been possible for quite some time. AHelper has actually written a C-based OS.

Yes, SDCC works, but it works exceedingly poorly. AHelper is working on using LLVM to create a better, optimizing compiler, and I'm sure he'd love your help, Wesley. By the way, care to Introduce Yourself if you get a chance?
