The price of a book is the thousands of hours that the author, editors, reviewers, proofreaders, and publisher put into creating and honing a clear, well-written book. It's not so much the physical cost of the paper and glue.
Keep in mind that any sort of book printing, even sub-1k scale, is becoming ridiculously cheap. It only takes around $1 to print a 300 page paperback, plus shipping. Hard cover books are around $5. A $5 difference between print and electronic is quite a reasonable difference.
