Finally recorded all 30 ringtones from my old Nokia 3585i. Had been wanting to do it for a while but hadn't got around to it. First I recorded by holding it up to a microphone. Decent quality but nothing to phone home about.

Then I found half of a calculator link cable laying around. Spliced it together with a 3.5mm cable. Hooked that up into the mic input and got much better quality.

http://minus.com/mVDhkLJE4/ The Audacity project files for the higher quality recording. Unsplit and unedited. Created with Audacity 2.0 so you may have to update.

Here's a photo of the setup http://i.minus.com/it2ikOqXsE5sU.JPG

Hope you all enjoy.
Nice! That setup looks very professional. Razz (It looks like something I would do, actually)

(Emphasis mine.)

(No, I have nothing more to contribute than lame puns.)
Yeah I typed that and thought about putting no pun intended in quotes but figured I would see if any of you noticed.
It's pretty interesting to hear these versions of the tunes. They seem much more modern than the ones I had on my 1100, but I recognized some of them quickly anyway.

I was pretty sure the pun was intended. Also, on many newer phones, you can connect via Bluetooth (or sometimes USB/SD-card) to add your ring tones. Many of them have a size and/or length restriction used to determine whether something is a song or a ringtone so you may have to trim and recompress (at low quality) the file you are working with.
