Hi everyone,
When I went on Omnimaga just 10 minutes ago, there was a DNS error. And it occured throughout the whole website. This wasn't completely a surprise, as there were mentions of 57o9 going offline the day before, but I had just gone on Omnimaga and it was working fine about 5 hours before. Anyone know what happened? Also I was a bit more surprised to find netham45.org down too, DNS error also.
I'm really wondering what is happening.
And not a single care was given...
Good thing they're spending the big bucks and constantly begging for money to keep everything nice and reliable. Yep. Good thing.
Kerm might want to merge this with the other thread about this, but earlier Netham45 announced the site would be down for 15 minutes for a software upgrade. Now it says 45 minutes on Facebook, though. There is probably something that went wrong during the upgrade, according to his update. Nothing to the extent of Dimension TI/Calc.org in 2002.
Ah ok. I just picked it up at a bad time.
Does this have anything to do with updating/upgrading Omnom?

What's that supposed to mean? I hope it doesn't mean what I think it might mean.
Someone already beat me to it, but yeah, I got this notification email:
Quote:
There will be some downtimes in the next few minutes, as Netham45 will try to install an update that will cause the site to go down in a few minutes, and this will last around 15 minutes.
There are normally 99% chances that this update goes through well and that downtime won't last any longer than expected, but since Netham45 is the one doing the update, then chances might drop around 50%.
Also some Omnimaga features such as the Radio, Omninet, the URL shorterner and the Comprehensive getkeyr table might not be functionning correctly right now, due to an extended downtime on Juju's server. The source of that downtime is unknown and it is not supposed to be related to the entire site downtime this morning, but hopefully it should be resolved soon, while hoping no data was lost on hosted accounts and features hosted there.
hopefully it will be up by tomorrow morning...
If it isnt, I might actualy have to do something first period
I think the real question is, why is an update taking so long, and why wasn't a backup plan put into effect to rollback or minimize downtime? Since the hosting is so expensive, I'd start asking these kinds of questions.
its an update stuff happens, i should know...
Even if "stuff" happens (which it shouldn't), then a rollback plan should still be in effect. Or a hot spare.
But things go wrong sometimes.
And I guess there were some things already a bit wrong, such as the Time Offset, where timestamps were off by an hour and five minutes. Anyway it still takes time.
I agree with jhgenius, i also think netham will get the site back up soon
Thank you jwalker.
Besides it gives people an opportunity to go to other calc sites, such as cemetech
very true jhgenius, very true
there is definately more activity
12 users and 71 guests. Is that more than normal?
I don't really know, I'm on Omnimaga most of the time.
i know, so am i, but since i got my prizm ive spent some more time here
it just seems a little more active
Yeah, I think the prizm is quite popular here on Cemetech.
We'll just have to sit and wait for Omnimaga to come back.

It's relatively normal. We welcome your continued contributions and project updates if you don't mind keeping us in the loop.
