Yeah, you uploaded a 2,592 by 1,944 pixel image. The quality is terrible when it's full size, is that from a cell phone?

Glad to see calculators are still being issued. Looks like the fiasco has very little impact on the process.
Yes, it's from my phone. Only way I can readily get a pic onto my computer.
Finished assessment 1 now to work on #2 and then #3.

<edit> I finished assessments one and two. Now to start number three. Very Happy
Did you get your first assessment sent in and approved? I sent all three at the same time and I'm waiting for Casio to respond.
I think the guy who gets your assessments was sic today. No, really. It's Nathan Austin and he hasn't answered anyone today. Just wait till monday Wink

I'd like to express concern again that your assessments may be overlooked or disqualified as a recent event as come about. I'm not linking you to this, just merely making you aware that it might not have been in your best interest to mail all three at once.

However, I haven't read anywhere that you're only allowed to email one assessment at a time. So, maybe you're still in the clear.
I think it should be fine, since it's pretty clear (IMO) that I didn't cheat. I even messed up on one of the assessments, so I resubmitted it.
I sent in my last one before the second one was approved and I have my PRIZM so i think its ok.

It's clear to me that you're a trustworthy person (I hate to couch it in these terms, but I feel that on the whole our long-term members here at Cemetech tend to be largely mature and trustworthy, which I think is not universally true). I'd be happy to vouch for your honesty if it was called into question for this.
I'm working on assessment three and am stuck on the first question and question 2 part c.

It's different for everyone, what's the problem? Going back to the slides didn't help?
Yeah, I had trouble with those questions as well. Go back over the slides and pay attention to the Financial section, that will help you tremendously.

first question
you need to use Financial and use a 365 day year to convert 7.5% APR for a car loan to it's effective rate. I don't know which section of financial to use and what APR means.
second:
in financial find the following info for a 30 year, $200,000 mortgage with 4.83% intrest.find the payments for this compound loan, with a final value of 0.

and no looking back has not helped a lot.
The slides go over examples of these using different values. Try and locate those and see exactly what they do.

Alternatively, you could also look at the manual they supply. Very Happy

I'll try both. But that first one, I've already attempted but is a little hard for the first one because in the slides the one like it has 3 numbers the question only has 2.

<edit>I completed the first question looking for problems that matched the ones in the assessment.

I keep getting a Range ERROR when I try to do 2.) c.).

They took all three and sent out a PRIZM. Smile

I don't think they would mind much if it was only a few people. From my POV, it seems that they have enough to last 90 days... because the trial also lasts that long (for the manager software).

Also, we should remember that even with Casio's kind hand, don't expect them to smile and release a magical SDK or anything. Razz I recall a member on Omni getting an email response from a Casio rep saying that they don't plan on releasing an official SDK soon because they're concerned about what will happen with it. This was probably before Casio caught wind of the cheating. With that said, I don't think cheating will propel them to hate us, since it's bound to happen anyway. Teachers will likely use old-fashioned email (or even... CDs!) to let other teachers get free PRIZMs. Casio has already designed anti-cheating methods, hence why I don't think there will be any halting of the program, nor any change in trust.

It's important to note that Casio may not be the final decision makers in allowing coding/SDK/hacking/etc. on the calc. I'm 99% sure the guys at TI who wrote the Nspire protection code hate it. However, the stockholders at TI, as well as the teachers, influence the company's decisions. The same goes for Casio. It may turn out that popularity from their products will, in turn, lock them up. (OS updating and region locking is already in place, anyway.) If this occurs, I won't be surprised - the hacking community for both TI and the PRIZM are still the minority; those companies (TI and Casio) have bigger fish to handle, like stockholders, parents, and educators. (If you really want to attribute a reason, think a bit more broadly - as long as major companies still believe in application and IP security, lesser companies like Casio are likely to follow that stance.)

*sigh*

On a less condescending note, I got in - legitimately! Very Happy

Dear [redacted],

Congratulations! You have successfully completed Assessment #3 in the “Using the Prizm fx-CG10” online training course. You are now eligible to receive either the Prizm fx-CG10 calculator or the Prizm Manager Software.

I will pass your selection (Casio Prizm) and shipping address to our shipping department and the calculator should go out within a couple of days.

I have attached some notes to highlight features that can be a little tricky for first-time users. I hope you find them helpful.
Thank you for your participation – we hope your experience with Casio Education’s online training course was useful and enjoyable. If you have any questions, please contact us at calctraining@casio.com

I've heard that it takes around 3-4 days for shipping (someone at Omni got accepted on Wednesday, got the actual Prizm package today, Saturday). I got my email on Friday, so I'm expecting a package either Tuesday or Wednesday. Very Happy

EDIT: Just to be clear, even though I was initially involved in cheating, I decided that it wasn't worth it and did it over in school with a netbook. Smile I also don't condone cheating - I'm just saying that with or without the cheating, and even with community trust building, we can't count on Casio to be too friendly.
can someone help me withassessment #3 problem #2 part d.)

Yeah, I don't think it was because they caught wind of cheating. (Imo, it seems like only a minor incident, and it's already been dealt with so it's not doing much to dwell on it) More, they're afraid of having the calc used to cheat and such on tests. The email I got was:

Quote:
Hello again,

My investigation was very quickly cut short. I have been instructed to respond (and I quote): "Casio does not have a plan to release SDK for PRIZM"

That doesn't mean that I and a few others won't keep suggesting it or trying alternate ideas; but R&D is concerned with inappropriate use.

We will continue to hope for the best.
I have finished and turned in all three assignments and am waiting for replys on all three.

now to wait.
