How do I make it ASM?

Just rename it...
I just tried renaming it but it didn't make a difference.
Also, if Windows doesn't let you properly rename your file (eg. it saves it as .asm.txt or .z80.txt), make sure Hide extensions for known file types is unchecked in Folder Options.

Can you be more specific? Are you sure you renamed it to riddle.asm, not riddle.asm.txt? Is Windows set to show you extensions? Were you careful to type compile.bat riddle, not compile.bat riddle.asm?
How do I get that to pop up?

Please at least do some Googling and reading of help files and readmes that are included with programs. We can't solve ALL of your problems for you. For example:

http://www.google.com/search?q=windows+7+folder+options
I can't get it to change to .asm! Nevermind! I think I got it.
