Let me get something straight. No sound is working. Anywhere. Period. I get a "One of your sound devices is malfunctioning" whenever I log into my root account through KDE. I sincerely can't remember what happened 1.5 months ago, so no info there.
does aplay work? or, can you do cat /dev/random > /dev/dsp to get static? otherwise alsa's config is either really bad, or the drivers are bad.

As I said. Nothing works. I've tried that. I suspect bad drivers. Dose anyone know of a good linux driver site?

Well, this thread is getting stale, and I still have no sound... sigh... If anyone knows where to get some Linux drivers, that would be great.
