My mom's laptop crashes with a BSOD when visiting youtube.com. It is running Windows XP, and crashes under IE 7 and Google Chrome.

That's not good. Does it do the same thing under other browsers? Have you done a virus check recently? What kind of specs does the laptop has? SP2?
It is running Windows XP SP3, and the computer has no viruses AFAIK.
Have you updated your video and sound card drivers recently?

You could try disabling Windows sound acceleration to see if that resolves the issue. You can also try disabling Flash video acceleration. Bluescreens are usually hardware/driver related, after all.

Yeah, I think those would be a good place to start trying to figure it out.
Well, I installed video drivers, and Youtube still isn't working and my sound is also not working. I guess I should update the sound card drivers too.
Prior to Vista Windows had quite a few issues with hardware-accelerated sound - or, more specifically, the drivers tended to be quite flaky, and disabling sound acceleration usually fixed the issue. Vista got rid of hardware acceleration, as it didn't really provide that much of an advantage in any case.
Flash sucks anyway. Install Fedora.
I got it working. I installed Catalyst, then uninstalled it, and then I went through a lot of tutorials on how to get it working. Thanks anyways, guys. Smile

This is crazy, I'm sure it has nothing to do with Youtube.

Now that you fixed it, do you know what made it happen?
Mine used to do this after awhile but only on FF. Seems to have been fixed with the latest update.
