Hello,

I have heard nothing to that effect. What you describe was not a bug, but rather, an internal purchasing message.

Thanks,

Sorry about the two emails, I accidentally pressed enter last time. I've
been hearing rumors that the TI-84 SE has been discontinued; I am very
disappointed, as I have been saving up money to get on for several months
now. Could you tell me whether this is true? I know several friends who
claim that it has been announced on the German site and others. And they
have told me about their replies. I have tried to add one to my cart online
and it said none in stock. Could you explain this?
Thanks!

Me too, but as Lionel and others said, TI-Cares is not generally to be trusted. Razz

I just got this:

Quote:

Danny,

Thank you for contacting Texas Instruments.

Recently you contacted us regarding a question about the TI-84 Plus Silver
Edition. I had to do additional research on this matter and got a more detailed
response for you.

TI Education Technology in the US and Canada, as well as many other regions,
will continue to sell both the TI-84 Plus and TI-84 Plus Silver Edition. The
TI-84 Plus Silver Edition is an important part of our product offering and we
will continue to update and support this product.

Sales and marketing in all regions continually review product offerings to
ensure they are meeting the needs of their markets. We currently sell products
in Europe to meet specific country retail and educational markets. TI has
products available in the US that are not sold in Europe and vice versa because
they are not the best products to meet the specific country needs. In that vein,
TI Education Technology Europe has phased out the TI-84 Plus Silver edition in
those select markets.

I hope that you find this information helpful. If you have further questions or
comments, please feel free to send me an email.

Warmest Regards,

César López

Indeed, so the subtext there I guess is that that 84+SE has been discontinued in Europe.

In some European countries anyway. The TI rep says it:

"In that vein,
TI Education Technology Europe has phased out the TI-84 Plus Silver edition in
those select markets. "

So the TI sites that reported the calc no longer available in their countries were right- the "production stopped" bit was wrong. I think.
Ah well, I feel bad for those in france Sad

Has anyone made a list of which countries of all the available ones the TI-84+SE has been eliminated from?

I'd be willing to bet they aren't making more runs of them and its only a matter of time till TI's current supply is out and then they will be discontinued in the US as well.
I'd believe that, but again, it's all hearsay until or if we hear something official from Texas Instruments. It's also possible that they're just ramping back production a bit.
phew... wow i thought we were all screwed there lol that was close Very Happy LONG LIVE THE TI84+SE!!!! TI-84+ TI-84+ SE
and yet you put a regular TI-84+?

I doubt that, though. TI's selling a lot of SEs here.

I am too lazy to actually make my own post so instead I quote people and then don't say anything new

Here being the United States? I think we're probably the larger consumer of TI's education products by percentage of students who have purchased their items.

TI-Cares,

Thanks for the response. I am indeed intimately familiar with the TI
SmartView software and with the 2.53MP OS. Indeed, as a z80 assembly coder,
I have had the misfortune of having to code a variety of workarounds for
bugs introduced in 2.53MP (and of course 2.54MP for the Nspire) that were
not present in earlier OS versions such as 2.41. I was wondering if and
when you have plans to fix these bugs, or if you indeed have any plans to
continue development on the z80 family's OS beyond 2.53MP/2.54MP. The
following are two concrete issues that I and the community have identified:

1) As per the website of my colleague, Brandon Wilson, "there's a bug in
TI's parser code which they introduced when trying to refactor all the code
that sets 0,(iy+7). After calling the parser hook with A=1, if the parsing
operation is canceled by the hook, then the OS incorrectly sets 0,(iy+7)
when it should be setting 0,(iy+6). This causes problems all over the
place." I have personally had to deal with this bug when creating my own
Parser hook, and presumably any official TI application that uses a Parser
hook would run into the same problems
2) The "MenuCurrent" RAM area (85DEh) contains values that are incorrect
when compared with previous OS versions. Specifically, the values are off
by one in most cases. For example, mGarbageCollect is $40 instead of $3F,
and mGroupVars is $2A instead of $29.

Thanks in advance for any insight you may be able to shed into possible
fixes or a timeframe therefore.

Thanks,
Kerm Martian
