Of course, did you think I learned asm over night? I can still make it exceptionally good. Very Happy
I know, I know. You really should learn it though... Sad
I agree. I need to reread it, to see what it was that I didn't get. I think once I get past it, I will be able to learn it. Problem is, it would take me 3 years or so to put this game out for asm. If anything, I will post it in BASIC first, learn asm, then remake it in asm. Then I could always do Star Trek in asm. Smile
Hey, sounds good to me. Go for it!
Well, the good news is I probably won't retire until I am 25 or so... Very Happy

On a side note, I have halfway done with the map between cinnabar island, and Pallet Town...
Most excellent, screenies when they're available?

Here are some screenshots of Pallet town.

What do you think?

That was the first batch, and as I get them done, I will probably just post them on the projects page. Also, do you think a table with no border will break up the pics? I am just curious...
Just make sure you use:
<table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0">
Ok, that is what I thought. Smile

And maps are moving along nicely, though I don't know how much I will get done tommorrow... (Long story, might post rant later)

And I am getting some fair amount of support on calcgames for this project as well. Very Happy
Werd. For obvious reasons, I'm gonna avoid calcgames.org for a while. Smile
Well, it is mostly from the calm people there, like CDI, JcCorp, and some of the n00bs that like pokemon. Smile

Map finished between cinnabar and Pallet town.
How big is this going to be exactly?!
So far, I have 48 8x16 map segments which is maybe 1/30 of the overall map, not including any caves, tunnels, and buildings. Smile

Once I have completed the map, I will know for sure.
Wow, that sounds like a cool Cool game. Are u going to include the graphics of the pokemon or just use their names like some versions i know.
WOW....that's insanely huge!!!

I am going to do text at first, until I get the actual game completed, so I know what I have memory wise. I might have to get an 84+SE so I can finish it... Evil or Very Mad Laughing

Tell me about it. That doesn't include the events, any NPCs, Pokemon, Battle Engine, Item Engine, etc. This game will strain an 83+SE fairly easy... I think this will be the game that makes my site get really noticed! Smile
Very Happy It would be cool if you finished Star Trek first. Surprised Just Joking

well, in theroy, someone with the right program could decomplile the original game, modify, and recompile for the calculator without much problem, except maybe memory (we are talking the exact same processor)

I WILL RIP OFF THE HEAD OF THE NEXT PERSON WHO SAYS THAT!!!!! The Gameboy processor is similar to a Z80; code-wise and structure-wise, it's not even close to being a Z80! The gameboy proc s really a cross between a Z80 and an 8080;

That's actually what I'm half hoping for so that it will force my parents to get me my new computer parts intead of stalling like they have for the past month or so.

Isn't that all water though?

As a quick suggestion; you should make tiles and display them as needed for your maps instead of making entire maps and storing them as images or something.
@Kerm: It would be, but have you figured out why the fast circle prog doesn't work on the 83?

@UD: I am using strings to create the 8x16 maps. The water is being displayed as alternating <> and there is a pattern to it, that is why I drew it all out on paper first. And I have to figure out my numbering system for the map before I can start programming it in to the calc.
Not yet, lemme see if I can do that right now.
