The only possible downside I can think of is that if Axe authors wrote programs with Doors CS libraries used (ie, calling into Doors CS), then they'd of course have to be run with Doors CS. Then again, why would anyone be using anything else, since you can do 8-line editing of Axe source from Doors CS, edit from archive, execute from archive, etc? But yeah, in the meantime, you can use inline asm code.
