for all of you who have been living under a rock for the last few day's, here is what it is.
Wikipedia wrote:
Swine influenza (also swine flu) refers to influenza caused by any strain of the influenza virus endemic in pigs (swine). Strains endemic in swine are called swine influenza virus (SIV)...
The swine flu is a descendant of the infamous "Spanish flu" that caused a devastating pandemic in humans in 1918-1919....
It also killed and sickened large numbers of hogs...
Although hogs had initially caught the virus from humans, it has undergone slight changes over the years, emerging occasionally to infect individuals who work closely with pigs. However, there have only been 12 cases in the U.S. since 2005 in which humans caught swine flu after being in contact with pigs and there is currently no requirement that pigs be vaccinated against swine flu...
SIV strains isolated to date have been classified either as Influenzavirus C or one of the various subtypes of the genus Influenzavirus A.

currently there is an outbreak in the US and Mexico. around 152 are dead.

ok, now down to the bottom of what this post is all about, what are your thoughts about it? I personally am not worried.

That about sums it up.
loved the one about Madagascar, Pandemic 2 FTW!
Indeed, I only started hearing about this about three days ago. What suddenly happened, and why is everyone freaking out so strongly about it? Isn't it just another form of the flu?
36000 people die in North America every year of flu related complications. Media overkill.
It's one of those species-jumping variants that no one has any immunity to, and they're worried it's gonna turn into an (epi/pan)demic.

Most likely it'll just blow over like SARS, West Nile, and Avian Flu. Public health alert doesn't mean "OMFG WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE," it means "hai guys, be a little more careful, the flu's a little nastier than usual this year and we don't want it to spread"
Retards.
it's just like what they did over the economy up here, it's not so bad as they say

Well, it's pretty bad here in NYC, where a large part of our economy is based on financial-sector companies.

and where you have the largest number of swine flu infections in the country. coincidence? I THINK NOT.

Things aren't great economy wise in VT, but we had the smallest economy in the country before this happened anyway, and not that many homes are being foreclosed on, since most of the people who *would* be foreclosed on live in trailer parks already, so things aren't much different.
Rolling Eyes @ swine flu
it is now called H1N1

Haha, yeah, the first time I heard about the swine flu outbreaks and everything that's the first thing I thought about, was Pandemic 2. Haha
