Cool, I remember playing games by Jeff Vogal when I was younger,, particularly the Exile series. Not to long ago I started a new game of Exile 3 and played it through.

I think that his ideal is spot-on. Every one of his games from the same series has the same sounds, graphics, and engine, but that makes it feel like one great big awesome game. If you start something that someone likes, keep at it and make many sequels! Saved the industry, I don't know. Vogal undoubtedly kept the indie game spirit alive, at least for me anyways.
I think "saved the industry" was probably intentional hyperbole. I've actually never played any of his games, but I think his arguments are spot on.
