I'm currently working on a project to create a custom AP and protocol for the TI-Nspire CX Navigator system. The overall purpose of this will be to enable wireless communication between the calculators navigator module and a raspberry pi. When finished, this will allow transferring of custom packets between them, which can then connect with custom programs on either the pi or another nearby computer to enable applications like ChatGPT, Live crypto and stock price viewers, and other programs that use an API or require decent processing power. I will post updates on how the project continues.

Well that's the minimum time I believe it will take, and I kind of want to add a ton of features built in, so it might be a bit more.

Okay, I have some progress. I have successfully gotten the navigator module to connect to but not login to a simulated network that I have made. Next step is getting it to login. Updates weekly.

How is this going? I'm curious how you're planning to get it to speak a custom protocol: are you connecting the radio hardware to a new SoC, creating your own firmware for the module, or layering an additional protocol on top of the existing one?
