I guess they're desperate for extra TI-Nspire CX CAS II sales.
Not really, it's more because exam boards can have a "clean/no-CAS" OS version if there's a need. Then again if only they used PTT....
Yeah, I just don't get why it couldn't at least be allowed when not in exam mode, but maybe the exam boards don't want to deal with having to learn multiple exam mode setup instructions due to the large amount of calculator models with an exam mode.
In Step 4 of the installation, the link to the b84 file for Windows users to download seems to be down/broken.
Indeed, bad Unix mode, should be fixed now, thanks!
No problem. Seems like it works well overall. It does seem to have difficulty solving more complex integrals but I bet that's just simply due to the complexity of integration and the limiting RAM/archive.

Could you please post examples of integrals that cannot be solved with khicas? I will try to solve those integrals with the good old Derive.

Thank you very much.

Sure, below are some that didn't seem to give me the right answer through khiCas on the CE:

Beware that I might have made syntax errors but I tried to doublecheck.
Because of flash constraints, I had to remove the code for integrals involving sqrt of a polynomial of degree 2. Also removed: support for erf/integrals of exp of polynomials of degree 2, as well as some definite integrals (e.g. using residues), and definite discrete sums.
The last screenshot integral works for me.
Yeah I assumed it was flash constraints, oh well. No problem. Since this is a beta, are there any plans for future developement? I'm guessing due to the flash there isn't a whole lot more you can do, but this is already extremely good! I'm wondering if it's possible to create something that is really good at one thing (eg some kind of cas that can only do integration/calculus functions but is more advanced without limitations, but can't do simpler stuff, if that makes sense). Not sure if that is plausible but would be cool, since there are other programs out there that have functionality up to precalculus, but I haven't seen anythong beyond that (advanced integrals up to Calculus 1 or maybe 2 level).

My line of thinking was that removing simpler features that other programs have would leave flash room for more advanced stuff, but I don't know anything much about on-calculator coding so not sure if that makes sense lol.
There is some modularity inside KhiCAS, meaning one could remove e.g. the units support, or the 2d expression editor, or plotting support, for more CAS capabilities (if you look at the source code, you can change some compiler defines in the makefile). But, in the case of sqrt(polynomial_of_degree_2), that would probably not help much, because the CPU speed is too slow.
