My calculator says "Waiting... Please Install Operating System Now", and when pressing any button it says “Error! Press any key to turn unit off. Then turn unit back on”, then the process just repeats itself.
New calculator purchased today! Can anyone Help?
I will assume you have a CE...
- If its boot looping, you probably have a bad battery. This is a known issue and TI will replace those under warranty.
- If the screen remains on with that message and doesn't flash white, then you don't have an OS. This is hardly a problem, you can just send one over with TI-Connect CE.
You cannot just install any OS version, the calculator tries to prevent you from downgrading. You can find every publicly available OS version here.
If you don't know what the boot code wants, I recommend sending the following versions in order until one gets accepted: 5.3.0, 5.4.1, 5.6.0, 5.8.1.
The process is the same if you have a regular TI-84 Plus, except you need to use a regular TI-84 Plus OS instead. 2.55MP was the last version released for it.
Make sure not to press any buttons while you connect your calc and transfer the OS.
This is NOT a CE. Managed to download the OS and it appeared to be OK, and it was validated, but then I get the Waiting... message again! Now TI-Connect does'nt even recognize the USB port.
In that case, consider it dead-on-arrival and return to the store for a replacement.
