@anyone who has taken calc: what's the point of "estimating" the area under a curve with rectangles and trapezoids? wtf, it's soo inaccurate...

It's to help understand the idea of finding the area under the curve using an integral. By taking a limit, the interval of which goes to zero, you see that it's a situation where an integral is appropriate.
I know that, but there must be a better way to find the area under a curve...unless it's used solely for teaching integrals?

The better way is to use an integral - that's the whole point. Also, things like Reimann sums come back later, in Vector Calc.
Ah well, I'll just wait until we get into integrals Razz

<off-topic>I just realized that my highest grade this quarter was in calc Laughing</off-topic>

.....2 days ago/early yesterday morning was insanely awesome...yesterday was mediocre, today just sucked. I got to school and was working on my jello cannon for the physics war and got my hands covered in expanding foam which is nearly impossible to get off, then our plan for the aim device didn't work and I had to skip my next 2 classes getting it working. at that point I was 20 minutes late to come out and meet Mom to grab my bike and bike down to the college for my class there. she was still there, so I got the bike, and started pumping up the tires (they have a slow leak) and the rear one popped.....so I had to go home with Mom, get her bike (which is definitely not a nice road bike..its a hybrid which is awful after 3 months of using a really nice road bike) and bike in to the college making me 30 minutes late for an hour long class where we were learning about Scheme which has got to be the bitchiest language ever, especially after you miss the first 30 minutes....and I still don't know what Im gonna be for the halloween dance tonight.

continuing on this theme I just went fishing at one of the best holes on my favorite river and caught absolutely nothing except a leaf....wtf.
In AP Env. Science I had to go fishing in the middle of a pond in 35F water. Not fun, especially since all that was in the pond were some tadpoles...
Sad today does suxx0r... ALL of my calcs memory got cleared (including my contest project, i backed up part like a week ago but I have optimized and converted to use lists and strings since) because of a DCS error. When I turned on the calc after pulling out the batteries for a while, ALL of the group files were gone ALMOST ALL of the apps were gone ALL of my archived programs were gone! The thing that makes me angry is that DCS was the only thing left on the calculator... Neutral

My Physics teacher hasn't come to school yet. Something with his heart... We've went through 2 chapters of notes already, and no one has been able to explain them.

Yeah, My Physics teacher had fluid in his lungs AND heart. So he was out of school for two weeks. He's back and with a 79.55% Attendance (or 35 of 44 days of school). I may be too paranoid about keeping logs, but they contain alot of info =P. I log eveything that happens on AIM while I'm online =X.

My bad day? TEH~! The fact that I was freezing meh buns off before school. I also have the paranoia about being late, so I HAVE to be at school like 40-60mins before my period starts. Any later, and I feel terrible the rest of the day =X. Thats not it, my friend jeff wanted to play Hit the Alex, (its all fun and games, sadly its a lot of fun, and I;m the one getting hit =X), and I got a big bruse on my shoulder.

Nothing to sucky =/
Yeah; there's a computer apps teacher at my school who was hit by a car and was hospitalized for a couple months, and the same week she came back to school she got hit by a car again. Neutral

...
ai. That SUX!

@the 40+ mins early thing, its totally wierd ok! In 9th grade I was their like 10mins before the bell, I had to time to spend with my friends, so in 10th, about 20mins before the bell, still I wanted more time, so I get there practilly before 1st period starts. Its complicated, and wierd.
:sigh: You didn't get my joke.
'parently not =P We're ff subject now I think. XD
Anyways I have to take the bus to school which comes around at 7 a.m. (wtf?), even though I live 3.5 miles away from the school <_< I get to school an hour before class starts.
how about this one, if I rode the bus, I would have to be on the bus for an hour after school gets out till I get to my place, and I am only 2 miles away from school.
Laughing My bus is weird too; it takes less than 10 min. to get to school in the morning, but over a half hour to get back in the afternoon. WTF?
I can change a flat tire, drive ~45mph the whole way home because of the cheapo spare tire, and still beat my bus home.
I still have to wait 5 months until I get my "provisional" license <_<
School buses, cute.
Yes. Until June...
