It is things like this, greed from corporations, that keep us from advancing in certain areas. =/
What do you think? Shouldn't the people be allowed to install these solar panels on their homes to lessen the load on the power grid?
This is like the time a politician in NY tried to ban sodium in food; it's just too stupid of an idea to go anywhere.
Currently laws actually require utility companies buy electricity off of you if you want to sell it. So not only CAN you install solar panels, but if you produce excess electricity the utility company is *REQUIRED* to buy it off of you.

Only a handful of states have these feed-in-tariff laws. Strangely enough, Hawaii is one of these states o_O (apparently utility companies over there stand to loose a ton of profits if they have to pay for the electricity other people generate, so why not try to change the law to preserve profits?)
