I tried to install Linux on my TI-nspire earlier today, and while inside the linuxloader program, I pushed the restart button, and since then it hasn't started up. It just gets stuck here:

I have already done a reinstallation of the OS and a reformat of the device after that didn't work.
What should I do?
There was a combination for this type of thing...
IIRC, (don't quote me on this, but it's worth a try I guess)
Press these at the same time:
    reset button
    esc
    menu
    -

EDIT: Seems I got it wrong, according to this site
    [DOC][EE][ENTER][RESET]
yeah, that's what I did to reinstall the OS and reformat the whole device, neither of which worked...

EDIT::
K, so in IRC it was suggested to take the battery out
.... yup, it's working again

Wait, so it wasn't working before, but now that the battery is out and it has no power, it's working?

I feel like I'm missing something.
I thought it could be assumed that I put it back in.
Update:
I have linuxloader2 and zImage on my calc but there's another file that I need. initrd. I cannot find this anywhere online even though every video of somebody who has succeeded has this file on their calc. Where do I find this?
I found quite a few websites so I'll just post my search engine results. https://duckduckgo.com/?q=%22initrd%22+download&ia=web
What does the initrd file actually do? why do I need it? also why are these downloads on sketchy websites? Razz
Have you followed the steps here:

https://github.com/tangrs/nspire-linux-loader2/blob/master/README.md

https://hackspire.org/index.php/Linux

To boot the device tree (newer) kernel, ensure you add a dtb command to load the correct device tree prior to booting.

Code:
 kernel linux/zImage.tns
 initrd linux/initrd.tns
 dtb linux/dtb.tns
 cmdline root=/dev/ram
 boot

Quote:
initrd <filename>: Loads a ramdisk into memory
So does the calc make the initrd.tns file? I'm still confused as to what it is and where to find it. The readme I had already read and it assumed I had everything in place already, which I don't.
