http://rancidmoose.homeip.net is now up and running whenever my home computer is. random things shall appear as I make them. I also now have Blockland setup so Im going to make it launch a dedicated blockland server along with my ftp and http servers.

Im also setting up a couple of terminal access servers for doing ""work"" at school <_<
Im planning on using 3rd party.

And I will of course have RDP set up.
somebody please test rancidmoose.homeip.net and tell me if you get any errors. thnx
well, for starters a 111 error... connection refused...
I got a "connection reset" error. <plug> http://cemetech.dyndns.org:29100 </plug>
dang it. thought that might be the case. Ill have to check my router settings again. its wierd though, because it was working yesterday.
Are you sure that you have port 80 properly forwarded?
as I said, it was working yesterday. Im gonna go check again though.

Oh, and your's is still giving a phpBB critical error.

Yeah yeah, I haven't worked on it lately.
well, Ive now tracked it down to a misconfigured httpd.conf.

All my other servers are running fine, and I watched an incoming connection from several friends using netstat -a.

is your computer set up via dhcp? if so, that could be the problem, as your local network IP would change, and thus the forwarded 80 port would no longer be going to the right computer. static your comp up to the network to fix that....
Yup, I agree with Kllrnohj on this one. If your network is assigning dynamic IPs every time the box is restarted, then you'll have some definite problems.
how stupid do you think I am?

and I dont know what it was, but i restarted my router and everything worked fine. which was wierd cause I could still see incoming connections in my Apache log.

Strange. Well, glad you got that straightened out. How's the dedicated Blockland server thing going?
it works. I decided to make a dedicated one though because it slows down my computer a fair bit.
OK. Wait, is this nix or xampp?
neither. Its a Windows XP machine running apache, mysql, php, and python. I originally configured it using phpdev as a nice installation package, but have made a lot of changes since then.
Very cool. If you had managed to get TBM dedicated to work reliably under *nix, I was going to ask you how you managed it, since I seem to be having some difficulty with it. Smile

I don't think you are stupid at all. It is an easy mistake that only applies to some routers (granted that "some" is really "nearly all" Wink ). My router, for example, uses the hardware address to identify which computer to port forward to, not the local IP, so I can continue to use DHCP and port forwarding just fine.

@Kerm: I had TBM working fine a while ago, but I'll try again soon to test the newer version of TBM....
just acquired a nice set of speakers, a fully functional Pentium II with mouse, keyboard, 64MB of RAM, 30GB hard drive and Windows 98 SE as well as a printer for $35. Very Happy

Im converting it into a Linux server which will run a dedicated dtb arena as well as some taking the place of my personal computer as an ftp/http server.
