I'm having the classic issue where Windows 7 is refusing to allow me to select .zip files in dialog boxes - it simply opens them as folders. I'm sure I've had this issue in the past and gotten around it with registry hacks, etc. but for some reason, today I can't figure it out.

Case in point, I'm trying to upload to the Cemetech and ticalc.org archives, and I can't select the .zip file to upload. If I try to drag and drop the zip file to the associated button, it shows the zip file name but then throws an "ERR_ACCESS_DENIED" when clicking "Upload" (using Chrome, but I also had the same type of result with IE & FF).

Does anyone have any advice or suggestions they can offer? Thanks in advance Smile
That's a very strange problem, and one that I'm afraid I haven't encountered before. It sounds like you succeeded in at least discovering that your browser was not at fault, so it must be something with the shell. Have you installed any third-party zip tools besides 7-zip that might be interfering with selecting vs. opening zip files? The ERR_ACCESS_DENIED is particularly weird to me, and my Google-fu is only helping a little bit. Out of curiosity, can you go to the Properties for a zip that displays this behavior and make sure it's neither read-only nor encrypted?
Indeed it was an issue with that particular zip file, I'm not sure exactly what. But I recreated it and it worked. I wasn't using any 3rd party programs, just Windows 7, however it worked this time.

I didn't get to check the properties before I deleted the original (sans Recycle Bin), but I must have messed up something in the file. Oh well, all good now! Thanks, Kerm Smile
Happy to try to help, at least; sorry I didn't have anything more concrete to offer. I'm glad that you solved it, at least.
