I wonder if there is a way to disable it temporally during the bfile operations at all even if it would involve writing a white image over it or would it be impossible? Thanks in advance

If you mean the busy indicator, exactly the same problem I tried to solve some time ago. I haven't solved it, but I found a workaround - find how is the file stored in the flash memory and then read it directly. It works only for reading. Check source code of cgdoom or cgplayera, I used it there.
Thanks - I will have a look at cgplayera package. Unfortunately I needed this for renaming (not just reading) files so probably will be impossible still. I thought drawing another sprite on top of hourglass will not work and at the end my own workaround was to delay the renaming till the moment one menus out of the add-in (i.e. presses menu to go to main menu) so it is quite neat how there is no interruption where I wanted to avoid it but I may revisit this later still.
