I have a TI-84 plus (yellow) for my child and the ans2 keeps coming up...Then it creates these brackets raised to the 2nd power when I try to clear the info. The child is falling behind in work and I am trying to see if we need a new calculator...

druff: It sounds like you're pressing the yellow [2nd] key. The combination of [2nd] and [CLEAR] produces the exponent symbol, which raises whatever you entered to a power. What do you mean about Ans coming up? That is the combination of the [2nd] and [(-)] keys.
