Yeah, saw that on Hackaday or HackedGadgets, I forget which. I was very impressed how precise it is; more specifically, how close in alignment each row is to the previous.

Nope, it's all custom built. From the programming to the drivers needed.

If you go to the video page he has a description of the hardware he used, but no Mindstorm.

I'm particularly impressed that he actually went through the trouble of writing a printer driver for it, so he can actually print directly to it. And all the minifigs were a cute touch.
