By the way I am using Windows XP if that makes a difference.
Hello welcome to cemetech, many members here are avant ASM'ers, and can point you in the right direction (sadly I am not one of them =[...)

ps. instead of double posting, just edit your previous post.
Okay thx hopefully someone will help out soon.
Hey, I'm Kerm, the webmaster here; welcome to Cemetech.
Most people find ASM in 28 Days to be the most helpful tutorial around, while WikiTI is good for technical reference:

You can find a great many tools and tutorials here: http://tifreakware.net/tutorials/asmresc.htm

Alot of links on the http://tifreakware.net/tutorials/asmresc.htm website are broken and some the downloads won't work. I'm going to try Learn ASM in 28 Days.
???????

I will take a look at that, I was sure that they were working... Thanks for letting me know.
I DID IT IT FINALLY WORKED!!! Razz
I do not know what I did differently but a file finally COMPILED!
Thanks for everything. I am definetely going to stick to Cemetec so you are all going to see me around more often.
imho, actually setting up the assembler is usually one of the hardest things to do and may be why a lot of people give up initially. I'm glad it worked out ok for you Smile

just ask questions whenever you run into trouble.

That was one of my problems.... I will get around to it eventually though! I swear! (Atleast if I find my calculator...)
Just use latenite. boom, problem solved
I'll try latenite but thanks for everything guys.
hmm, I never seemed to have an issue ever getting a complier set up in XP. Weird.

Neither did I, but I would guess thats because I (we?) were able to do crazy things like being able to follow step-by-step directions without screwing it up
true, the ASM is 28 days did it perfectly for me (actually, now I need to get around to setting up a Linux environment, but that is on the bottom of my list.
Man looking at this post was all I needed, thanks for the links. I had a basic understanding of assembly but for the life of me couldn't compile... Until now. Turned out to be because of bad inc. files. Thanks. Good Idea

Glad that we could help. Do you have any specific projects in mind, or you're just learning ASM to know it for now?

Ya I was just wanting to learn ASM in order to produce faster programs and what not. Also the use of sprites and other ASM functions seems useful.
