It work fine on OS X in case anybody is interested (though it's pretty slow to run).
Is it just me, or does GIMP 2.4 not let you move text with the rectangle tool?

I've given up trying to sync all of my sigs at once.

It never did. You have to use the 4-point move tool to move text layers as far as I've ever known.,
